Muay Thai Cardio at Lifetime Fitness | Killer Cardio Workout

Want to try a killer cardio workout? Head over to Lifetime Fitness in Colorado Springs and join their Muay Thai Cardio class. A full on hour of intense interval training; your shoulders, legs, and abs will be feeling it.

Muay Thai Kickboxing Class

The class is broken down into three main sections:

  • Warmup
  • Kickboxing
  • Abs and Afterburner

Muay Thai Warmup

The warm up was fairly simple; a little jogging, side-stepping, high-knees, back-kicks, etc while going around the martial arts room.

Then we lined up and started doing series of shadow punches, elbow strikes, and knee blocks.

The heart is starting to work now.

Kickboxing

For the kickboxing section we paired up with another person to share the pain/joy of abusing the heavy bags in the room. I couldn’t tell you how long the intervals were, nor how long we went, but my arms loved and hated it. We would alternate holding the bag or abusing the bag.

We used different combinations of punches, elbow strikes, knee strikes, and kicks. Each interval was timed; so you would take a turn hitting the bag, then a turn holding the bag.

Abs and Afterburner

The class ended with a high intensity interval focused on some abs work both on the floor and on the bag.

Muay Thai Cardio a Killer Workout at Lifetime Fitness

My first experience with kickboxing was an absolute blast. It was fun, hard work, and a killer workout. If I can find a way to fit it into my schedule — I will.

Give it a shot!

If you’ve tried it before, what did you think? It seems like a fun way to work in some additional high intensity cardio to keep that fat burned off. Share your thoughts.
