Burpee Ladders - Cube Dweller Fitness

Burpee Ladders

Time to take the burpee bash to the next level with burpee ladders.

Take out the ladder to get to the next level – lame, humor right?

Seriously, if you have not experienced exercising with a ladder set you are in for an experience. The ladder is a technique that I love to use to help trick my head into doing more work than I think I can accomplish.

Too often it is our own limitations, our mental traps, that keep us from performing.

Ladder sets are a simple trick to break through.

The format is simple enough:

  • Perform a set with a single repetition.
  • Rest about as long as it took to perform the set.
  • Perform a set with two repetitions.
  • Rest.

Keep going, climbing up the ladder by adding one repetition each subsequent set.

Until you can’t. When you reach that top rung, where you can no longer do another repetition with perfect form, climb back down.

  • Perform a set with one less repetition than your max.
  • Rest about as long as it took to perform the set.
  • Perform a set with two less repetitions than your max.

Climb back down.

That’s it.

Burpee Ladders

Now the ultimate combo: burpees + ladders.

Do not forget that burpees are the one exercise to rule them all according to the Art of Manliness.

So a great exercise combined with a simple workout structure that will trick your mind into performing more repetitions in a workout than you thought possible – epic.

To perform the Burpee Ladder, grab a timer and get ready.

  • Set the Timer for 10 minutes.
  • Climb the Burpee Ladder.
  • Climb back down the Burpee Ladder

Keep going until time runs out.
