Garage Gym | Autobody Work and Metabolic Finishers

Garage Gym – combining autobody work and metabolic finishers. That’s a strange combination isn’t it. Well if you are like me, life is filled with surprises and opportunities. My past couple weeks have been filled with both, read on to see how I managed to combine autobody work with metabolic finishers.

Some Problems Appear Worse

I have kids. Two kids, but somehow life has gone by so quickly that now my little ones are off in college. Both of them are off in college. Some days I still find that hard to believe. While the years have sped by, those years are filled with memories — great memories. Thankfully I fought hard to make sure that my life in a cubicle didn’t completely rob me of time with my kids. That’s a battle worth fighting.

Being dad often means that we get to step in and help out. This fall has been one of those times; a time for autobody work. In Colorado winter means snow and icy roads. Often that leads to crumpled metal. Thankfully in this case no one was injured, just lots of bent metal.

No problem. Much like this blog I approached the problem the same way with lots of research and an open mind. There is so much information available that if you search, you can find the answers to most problems.

We towed the car home to take a deeper look. As I started taking things apart I discovered that the only mechanical damage was the power steering fluid reservoir. That’s it. Crumpled skin was the only real damage.

That discovery reminded me that some problems appear worse than they truly are. As I think about fitness it can be easy for you to think that the problems are worse than they really are. When you start to unpack what it would take to transform your body, like my autobody adventure, you will find that it isn’t as bad as you thought.

Find simple ways to start. Begin by taking stock of your current physical condition. Visit with your doctor to review your health. Then buy a program to get you started. Buying a program helps by laying out a plan for you to follow. Consider these:

I work hard to sift through programs that are available. If you purchase one of these program two things you should know: first, I want to hear from you (good and bad), and second, any purchase helps me keep this site up and running. Your feedback helps make sure that Cube Dweller fitness only recommends programs that will produce results. These programs are affiliate programs (see disclaimer) that means when you purchase through the links on this page I earn a commission. Those two things help keep me motivated to keep the site going.

Once you get started, you may find that the problem appears worse than it is, so dig in and get moving.

Creative Exercise

Building a program as the foundation of your fitness program is essential. Think of it as a foundation, or frame to build on. With the right foundation you can keep building and growing.

With my autobody experience I had to do the same thing and I had a chance to do some creative forms of exercise. I pulled out the leather work gloves, pry bar, and framing hammer.

The problem was that the frame, the foundation, of the car was bent out of shape. So my creative exercise took on movements like:

  • Isometric rows — while pulling the frame forward with both hands
  • Curls and Tricep extensions — as I pounded, pried, and torqued metal back into shape.
  • Squats — up and down. Much of the work felt like I was constantly standing up, squatting down to get a better view of what was going on with the car frame.

That creative exercise was good, but it really didn’t burn off calories, nor stress. What I needed was a metabolic finisher. I wanted something that I could pound out, much like the frame on the car, that would get my metabolic system churning away calories.

I grabbed my bulgarian training bag, punching bag, pull up bar, and punching bag. Each night tossing together a different series of intervals.

While I got creative with the equipment in my garage gym, Mike Whitfield, has created a new program focused entirely on Metabolic Workout Finishers. Mike has been trained by Craig Ballantyne. His program is a perfect addition to your base fitness program – workout finishers.

Just like my little interval sessions, Mike’s workout finishers can be added to the end of your current program. In Mike’s Workout Finishers program you will find 40 different intervals that you can just tack onto the end of your workouts.

No need to try to get creative, when all of your own creative juices have stopped flowing. Just buy Mike’s program. Then when you need a little extra kick, grab one of his workout finishers to finish you off.

Results

My endeavor in the garage paid off. The car is rebuilt – not painted, but rebuilt. My daughter’s car now has a new hood, fender, bumper cover, and driver’s side headlight. Back into action, the problem looked much worse than it was. With a little creativity I was able to dig through and get it back in working order.

The same is true for your fitness. Just dig in. Pick a program, get started. Then buy the Metabolic Workout Finishers program so you are armed with 40 different ways to finish off a workout.

In a very short time you, like my daughter’s car, will look entirely different. With a shape restored like you’ve only just imagined. Make it so.

Let’s hear how you progress.
