Polar ft4 – The Buyer’s Standpoint

Track your fitness, you know I have enjoyed tracking my workouts with my heart rate monitor. There are so many options, how do you know what you’re going to get. Well here is a guest post from professional cyclist, Anna Stacy, where she provides the buyer’s standpoint on the Polar ft4.

The new ft4 by Polar has taken the tech world by storm, and has catered a lot of attention in market. This excellent combination of elegance and functionality is bound to score miles in consumer market. Let us give you a review of this gadget from the perspective of purchasers.

From Backlit Display to LCD Display, from Daily Alarm to Target Zone Alarms and High and Low Limit Alarms, and Wireless, you just name it and it is already there in your Polar ft4. The widget comes with displays for Clock, Continuous Heart Rate, Heart Rate, Calories Burned, Stopwatch, Trip Time, Pulse and Daily Workout Memory. And yes, it also has a comfortable chest strap included with it.

Your display unit computes (accurately!) the calories burnt, and comes with a textile transmitter and also a coded heart rate transmission which avoids cross-talk. Not to forget, it has been built with an ability to automatically determine your target heart rate zone based on your age and other related parameters.

And if you want to measure the number of calories that you have successfully managed to put off with your workout, be it for that individual session or based on a range of time period, then Polar’s OwnCal is there for you. Furthermore Polar’s OwnCode can be used to transmit coded heart rate which is transferred to and from your training computer, and is specifically designed to avert interference from nearby devices.

Graphical and tabular indication of heart rate zone is an added plus. Polar ft4 Sports Watch comes with tremendous storage space and can store up to ten training files (some claim twelve too), and that too with summaries. By bringing your training computer in range of your transmitter, you can in fact access varied training information without having to press a sequence of buttons on your widget.

And it would be complete injustice, if we leave out what the layman loves about this Polar version. There is backlight, date and weekday indicator, option to customize your display text and choose from within 8 different languages and dual time zone. And yes, there is a KeyLock feature to lock your computer buttons too. Customary characteristics like low battery indication and 12- and 24-hour time display that too with alarm and snooze facilities.

There are so many reasons to love this development by Polar, but one last word. We heard so many of Polar clients complain about hating the hassle of sending their device to Polar Service Centers for a battery replacement and paying extra for it. Yes, finally the people at Polar have paid heed to our complaints and come up with user changeable battery for Polar ft4.
